Edmond Jordan

Louisiana State Representative Edmond Jordan is a graduate of Southern University A&M College and the Southern University Law Center.

Rep. Jordan has been an attorney for 27 years, representing the Louisiana Public Service Commission, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and the United States
Department of Homeland Security.

A portion of his practice has been dedicated to making sure that the poor and indigent have access to the legal system. In recognition of his work in this area; Mr. Jordan was appointed to the Louisiana State Bar Association’s “Access To Justice” Committee, where he served for several years. He is also a member of the United States District Court for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts, as well as an active member of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Additionally, Rep. Jordan serves as a director/trustee on the boards of Essential Credit Union, South Louisiana Charter Foundation, and CareSouth Cares Foundation; as well as previously serving as board chairman of CareSouth, a Federally Qualified Health Center.

In 2016, Mr. Jordan was elected as Louisiana State Representative for House District 29 and in that capacity has served as Vice-Chair of the Insurance Committee and Chair of the House Executive Committee. In 2024 he was elected and currently serves as Chairman of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus. As a legislator, he has supported and authored legislation in the areas of criminal justice reform, economic development, access to health care, education, transportation and insurance.
In October 2022, he was appointed to the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance (“FACI”).

Lastly, Rep.Jordan is a member of theNationalCouncil of Insurance Legislators (“NCOIL”); currently serving on its Executive Committee as treasurer; on course to becoming its
president in 2027.
