Dustin Miller

Dustin Miller represents District 40 in the Louisiana House of Representatives and has served since January 2016. A licensed nurse and business owner, he combines healthcare experience with public service to support families across St. Landry Parish.

Background and Education

Dustin grew up in Lawtell, Louisiana, and graduated from Opelousas Catholic High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and completed a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on family care from Southern University.

Professional Career

Before his time in office, Dustin worked as a family nurse and co-owned Acadiana Practitioners Family Medical Clinics. His healthcare background gives him a unique perspective at the legislature, where he remains the only nurse in the state House.

Political Career

Dustin was first elected in 2015, took office in early 2016, and has been re-elected at each cycle since. He won the 2023 primary with over eighty percent of the vote, showing strong support from his community.

Committee Roles and Leadership

Dustin chairs the Health and Welfare Committee and serves on the Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight Committee, Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee, and the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay. He is active in the Acadiana Delegation, Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, Democratic Caucus, and Louisiana Rural Caucus.
